Have your PEACE now!

Dr Martin Luther King wrote a nomination for the late Thich Nhat Hanh to win a Nobel Peace Prize. What Dr King Knew was that if we all practiced the teaching of Thich we could have peace right now, he knew this because they had spoken at length about their joint plans for peace and how to achieve it both in Vietnam and in the US but also worldwide.

I bring this up because the fact that a traditional orthodox Christian such as Dr Martin Luther King nominated a Buddhist “Thich”,(when he could have chosen anyone in the world) only highlights the ability for peace and love to transcend different religious beliefs and traditions. It highlights that the core principles of love and peace that are the foundation of each religion, can still unite those who actually stand for the core values of their faith.

He achieved so much in his short life, not only did he save so many lives during political turmoil in Vietnam and all around the world, but he also converted many to Buddhism though his books and teachings as his insights offered much peace and solace to those lost and hopeless. I don’t mourn his passing, I understand that there is no death, only a transition. However, I would like use this opportunity to highlight and celebrate what he taught.

He taught that YOU can have happiness now and that is not off somewhere in the distance, it is right here, right now. He also taught that You are already everything you want to be, you just have to learn to accept it, and this was at the foundation of his teachings. Like all ascended masters he also knew the knowledge of the ONE source that manifests as all things. This is highlighted in another of my favourite Thich Nhat Hanh quotes where he says, “We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness.” All is ONE, bless you all :

Can your Mind heal your body?

In 1799 British Physician Dr John Haygarth produced the first scientific demonstration of the placebo effect......

The placebo effect is when a patient is given a drug that they believe has some medicinal properties, which in some cases is just sugar or water. The patient believing, they have been administered a medical drug that has scientific healing properties, then unconsciously begins the process of healing simply from the belief in consuming a genuine drug. However, it is only the patient’s belief in the drug that causes the healing, not the imaginary healing powers of an inanimate (idol) object such as a sugar pill.

This is the power of belief.

The placebo effect doesn’t just work on curing minor ailments in 1959 Surgeon Dr Leonard Cobb split two groups of patients suffering with angina in to two separate groups. One group would have surgery and the other group of patients would simply be told that they have had surgery.

Angina is a chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart to cure this surgeons tie small vessels in the chest wall to increase blood flow to the heart. Amazingly both groups had a 95% success rate of curing the illness. This successfully proved that the belief in being cured is the most important part of being cured.
